Each year, The Center for Great Expectations hosts an alumni reunion—a day filled with hugs, laughter, and heartfelt re-connections. It’s a favorite moment for our staff, as we witness the strength of the community that continues to grow long after our clients leave.
This year, one moment especially moved us. During a raffle giveaway, one alum’s name was called not once, but twice—earning her two prize baskets. Without hesitation, she turned to her friend beside her, who hadn’t won, and gifted her one of the baskets.
It was a simple gesture, but one that spoke volumes. This wasn’t just about sharing a prize—it was about honoring a bond. A bond built through shared experiences, mutual support, and healing. These women don’t just see each other as past housemates. They see each other as family.
Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. At CGE, healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in community, through compassion, and with love that lasts far beyond a single stay.
