Many of the women and children who enter our programs come to us either homeless or living in unstable housing. Since having a safe and secure home can significantly increase one’s overall well-being, we saw the importance of providing Permanent Supportive Housing in our continuum of care. Our Permanent Supportive Housing program supports and preserves families through a respectful, strengths-based approach. Our intensive case management and counseling services provide them with the means to continue in their recovery process; to achieve their goals toward self-sufficiency; and to support the healthy, happy families they desire. Thanks to the support of AvalonBay Communities, we created sixteen units of low-income housing at AvalonSomerset (now named The Grove) for CGE mothers and their children. In 2015, a contract from the State of New Jersey enabled us to expand this program even further. Today, we have 26 apartments for at-risk families in Somerset and Middlesex Counties.
